Feral birds roost on ledges, window sills and in residential and commercial roof voids. They nest in loading dock areas, warehouses and public structures. These birds seem to be quite and content but they carry filthy diseases within their faeces. They can cause damage to stored goods and products, contaminating them with their faeces. Bird proofing is always a method which should be carried out first depending on the situation. Proofing methods include netting, wire mesh and fixing holes or joins in or between roofs. These methods depending on the size can be cheap, however large scale jobs can be proven to be expensive. Bird repelling methods include spikes, bird shock flexi track and bird wire. These methods are installed to landing areas to remove birds form beams, window sills, signs, building perimeter edges, etc. They work very well and are cost effective.
Eagle Eye Scarring Devices also are available to large scale areas eg. Vineyards, goals and country areas. They are used to scare birds away from big areas at approx. 100m radius from each device. They are not regularly used in urban areas as they give off constant reflective light.
Bird Trapping methods are to remove certain species of birds away from affected areas. Specific traps are for pigeons, indian myna’s and starlings. Trapping methods take time and persistence, but they do work very well. Bird trappings programs can be carried out daily, but may take weeks to reduce the population down to a minimum. Most birds caught are euthanized according to RSPCA guidelines.

Bird Eradication involves baiting procedures, or as above trapping and euthanizing. Baiting procedures are initiated with a permit from National Parks & Wildlife. Each person using chemicals like 4-Aminopyridine or Alphachcoralose must contain a licence before they can buy or use the product and must obtain a permit to use the product at the certain location.
Bird Baiting procedures work very well. They also take time, but can reduce the population down to a minimum. Only specific birds are targeted like pigeons.

MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS
Bird scaring acoustics can work for a period of time before the targeted birds get used to them and re-infest.
Bird kites, the same can work well for a short time before the birds get use to them.
Reflective discs can work for short periods of time also.
Foil covered floating devices can deter ducks from pools, again short periods of times.
