RODENTS – RATS AND MICE Rats and mice enter into homes and business’ for all types of reasons. It could be for shelter or food, needless to say they are still not welcome.  They gain entry thought the smallest of gaps or holes so it is impossible to seal all entry points.  It is in best practice however to try and seal all gaps and holes but you won’t get all of them.  Don’t make it too easy for them leaving doors or screen doors open, not fixing holes in floors, ceilings or walls, make it hard for them to get in. Proofing off a business or residential home can be easy with some metal strips on base of doors, wire mesh in holes and even industrial steel wool in those hard to get places. In addition to proofing a baiting procedure is necessary to kill off the vermin inside your home.  Baiting procedures are generally carried out to roof void areas where they are mostly heard or seen in.  Additionally you can bait accessible subfloor areas and internal areas which are out of reach from pets and kids. RESIDENTIAL RODENT CONTROL

Proofing and baiting procedures are the best way in eradicating vermin within and around your home.  Proofing methods above can be carried out by the client or preferably by us because we can inspect all accessible areas thoroughly.  Rodents can gain access through the smallest of gaps or holes so fixing all spaces is sometimes impossible.

Residential baiting techniques include:-

• Roof Void Baiting
• Subfloor Baiting
• Internal Rodent Bait Stations
• External Lockable Weatherproof Bait Stations

Roof Baiting – is simple.  We gain access to all roof void areas and strategically lay baits where the rodents will be running or nesting.

Subfloor Baiting – is carried out to dry areas because moisture areas deteriorate the baits too quickly.  Subfloor baits can be loaded into cardboard bait stations and placed strategically in accessible subfloor areas.  If pets are around, lockable stations are preferred.

Internal Bait Stations – are used if pets and children can’t gain access to them, like behind fridges, dishwashers or in lockable cupboards.  The baits are too dangerous if pets or children gain access or worse digest them.

External Lockable/Weatherproof Stations – are used in garden areas around the home or sheds.  This is a great way of controlling the rodent problems on the outside before they get inside.  The only thing is that these stations must be checked and replenished at 3 monthly intervals at the most – if there is no bait in them, they are useless.

COMMERCIAL RODENT MANAGEMENT

Rats and mice destroy damage and contaminate commercial business’, factories and food production facilities.  They gnaw through cabling, phone lines, walls, ceilings, floors, stored goods and packaging.  They contaminate products and working areas with their urine and faeces wherever they walk or run.

The inside areas will then be monitored and if baits either chemical or non-chemical are needed, they will be strategically installed in high risk areas.

Different baits can be used for different levels of infestations and situations.  All infestations are different so each must be tailored accordingly.
